Fujitsu Limited has completed its acquisition of GK Software SE, the world’s leading provider of mobile and cloud solutions for retail.

About Fujitsu Fujitsu is the leading Japanese information and communication technology (ICT) company, offering a full range of technology products, solutions, and services.

Today’s acquisition, which has closed, brings together the expertise of two tech powerhouses. Germany-based GK Software has a strong reputation and market share, and provides over a quarter of the top 50 retailers in the world in 60 countries.

They offer state-of-the-art POS and SaaS solutions, featuring AI-powered price optimization, among others.

This is a strategic relocation by Fujitsu to add GK Software’s revolutionary retail technology to its “Fujitsu Uvance” offerings. Overview Uvance is the Fujitsu vision, strategy and approach to creating business and society solutions through digital transformation.

GK’s knowledge will directly enhance Fujitsu’s “Consumer Experience” division of Uvance, enabling Fujitsu to add value to their global retail portfolio.

This cooperation has the potential to offer retailers substantial advantages. Specifically, Fujitsu intends to provide its latest technologies — for example, Fujitsu Kozuchi (platform service for data intelligence)(1), Data Intelligence PaaS and dynamic SCM (supply chain management) solutions — and integrate these into GK Software’s solutions.

In addition, Fujitsu’s extensive global delivery capabilities, including highly accurate demand forecasting, will be of great benefit to customers.

“Through Uvance, this acquisition represents a significant milestone in Fujitsu’s evolution” explaned Yoshinami Takahashi Corporate Executive Officer, COO and Head of Global Solutions at Fujitsu Limited, Fujitsu’s focus in growing key sectors. He added that it will be exciting to have an even bigger reach to customers around the world.

Importantly, the GK Software management layers remain unchanged as a result of the acquisition. Michael Scheibner will stay on as CEO and Chairman of the Board, and Michael Jaszczyk will retain his position as Chief Digital Transformation Officer. The leadership continuity is intended to guarantee a smooth transition and seamlessly leverage the success that GK Software has achieved to date.

Industry analysts believe that this acquisition will kick-start production and distribution of new, cutting-edge digital offerings for retailers, resulting in increasingly personalized and convenient shopping experiences for millions of customers globally.

Through the combination of GK Software’s deep retail expertise and Fujitsu’s technology strength and global reach, the partnership is set to bring major innovations to crucial areas including omni-channel retail, data analytics, and artificial intelligence in the retail sector.
