Microsoft and Yotta Collaborate to Accelerate AI Advancement in India

In a major move to boost the country’s artificial intelligence potential, tech behemoth Microsoft has partnered with Yotta Data Services, the largest provider of sovereign cloud computing service, in India.

Through this partnership, Microsoft’s leading Azure AI platform will complete with Yotta’s indigenously developed Shakti Cloud platform to forge a robust foundation for driving AI innovation in the country.

This partnership directly contributes to the Indian government’s ambitious ₹10,372 cr IndiaAI mission to leverage AI with the aim of strengthening the country’s computational prowess and AI-led development.

Bringing Azure AI to Shakti Cloud will enable Microsoft and Yotta to equip IndiaAI’s mission participants, namely government departments, Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs), emerging startups, long-standing businesses as well as software-appointed developers with AI capabilities that are critical for leapfrogging advancements in AI.

Sunil Gupta, Co-founder, CEO and Managing Director, Yotta Data Services endorsed the views, saying the partnership would also be critical for digital transformation in India.

“This collaboration is a significant milestone enabling India’s AI Atmanirbharata and digital transformation and we are thrilled to be able to extend our support to Indian enterprises in achieving AI excellence, through a complete range of solutions,” Gupta added.

Shakti Cloud users will be able to leverage a wide range of pretrainedNN Language Models, both Large Language Models (LLMs) and Small Language Models (SLMs) that are available on Azure AI Foundry.

That will allow them to cost-effectively build, launch, and grow AI workloads. And already then, inbuilt safety tools, content filters and copyrights protection mechanism are likely to be integrated on the platform to make certain that AI is developed and deployed responsibly.

This partnership capitalizes on the best of two organizations. Microsoft delivers its widely trusted Azure AI platform which encompasses a vast array of machine learning and AI models, tools, and development environments.

The Yotta foundation currently provides its state-of-the-art, India-located Shakti Cloud platform to house high quality compute resources for AI workloads, delivering superior computing power to India, along with data sovereignty and low latency.

The partnership is poised to impart the way digital technology businesses are done in India across AI in agriculture, AI in healthcare, AI in education, AI in financial services, AI in manufacturing, AI in retail, and AI in media, by making available INDIA issued advanced AI capabilities to any and every Indian enterprise. This collaboration is a significant progression toward India’s vision of becoming a global AI innovation hub.
