Planet Labs PBC (NYSE: PL), a top provider of daily data and insights about Earth, today announced a significant milestone with four major contract awards for its new AI-enabled solutions within the critical Defense and Intelligence sector. These wins, following the company’s recent earnings announcement, underscore the escalating global demand for advanced geospatial intelligence and solidify Planet’s position as a key innovator in national security.

The contracts highlight Planet’s commitment to leveraging its extensive satellite data and advanced artificial intelligence capabilities to provide enhanced situational awareness and informed decision-making for government customers across the U.S. and internationally.

Among the notable agreements, Planet secured a substantial €240 million multi-year contract funded by Germany. This agreement includes an eight-figure annual value component for PlanetScope data and AI-enabled solutions, dedicated to supporting European peace and security through persistent surveillance and enhanced maritime domain awareness.

Further expanding its reach, Planet’s existing Hybrid Space Architecture (HSA) contract with the U.S. Department of Defense’s Defense Innovation Unit (DIU) was significantly broadened. This expansion will specifically support the U.S. Indo-Pacific Command (INDOPACOM) by delivering AI-enabled solutions crucial for providing vital indications and warnings for national security.

In a key development for maritime operations, Planet also signed a seven-figure expansion with the U.S. Navy. This contract aims to bolster Maritime Domain Awareness over the vast Pacific Ocean region, leveraging Planet’s unique ability to monitor wide areas for critical changes and threats.

Finally, building on a prior announcement from June 12, 2025, Planet confirmed its selection by NATO for a seven-figure contract. This pivotal agreement will deliver persistent space-based surveillance, enhanced indications and warnings, and critical Maritime Domain Awareness functions for the alliance.

Will Marshall, Planet’s CEO and Co-Founder, emphasized the growing momentum: “The changing geopolitical landscape and modernization of security capabilities are driving unprecedented interest in our solutions. Today’s announcements highlight the strong demand for AI-enabled solutions and our data, demonstrated by multiple contracts with significant annual contract values.”

These strategic wins validate Planet’s strategic shift towards delivering downstream, AI-powered solutions, demonstrating the tangible results of its go-to-market and product focus in addressing complex global security challenges.
