In a significant move to cultivate the next generation of tech innovators, Sharjah has announced the launch of a new AI Skills Challenge for youth, as part of the pre-forum activities for the 14th International Government Communication Forum (IGCF) 2025. Organized by the Rubu’ Qarn Foundation for Science & Technology, the competition is designed to equip young minds with practical, future-ready skills in artificial intelligence, robotics, and design thinking.
Targeted at youth aged 10 to 16, the challenge will see approximately 45 participants work on developing smart solutions to pressing global issues. The competition’s core themes, food security, sustainability, and quality of life, are directly aligned with the overarching focus of IGCF 2025, which is “Communication for Quality of Life.” The initiative aims to bridge the gap between academic learning and real-world problem-solving, fostering a culture of innovation from an early age.
The program is structured around a four-stage process: learning, ideation, implementation, and presentation. Participants will first receive training in AI, robotics, and 3D printing. They will then move on to brainstorming creative solutions, building functional prototypes or digital models, and finally, presenting their projects to a panel of expert judges. A team of 12 specialists in AI, agriculture, and robotics will mentor the young participants, guiding them in both technical and soft skills.
This AI Skills Challenge is one of several competitions and workshops being held in the lead-up to the IGCF, which will take place on September 10-11 at Expo Centre Sharjah. Other pre-forum activities include the “Global PR Challenge” for university students and the fourth edition of the “University Challenge,” both of which also focus on addressing critical societal challenges through strategic communication and technology. By integrating these youth-focused events, Sharjah is solidifying its reputation as a hub for knowledge, innovation, and talent development, while actively engaging young people in shaping a better, more sustainable future.
