Bragg Gaming Group has confirmed it was the victim of a cyberattack that compromised its internal IT systems over the weekend. The online gaming technology and content provider announced that the breach, which was discovered on the morning of Saturday, August 16, was limited to its internal computer environment, with no indication that customer or partner personal data was affected.

In a public statement, Bragg Gaming Group said it took “immediate steps to mitigate any potential impact” and has engaged independent cybersecurity experts to assist with the investigation and remediation efforts. The company emphasized its commitment to data safety and is working to restore full security in line with industry best practices.

Initial assessments by the company indicate that despite the breach, business operations have not been disrupted. Bragg’s core services, including its iCasino and sportsbook platforms, remain fully functional. This suggests that the attackers did not deploy a destructive form of malware, such as ransomware, that would have crippled the company’s ability to operate. The company’s quick detection and containment efforts appear to have been successful in preventing a more widespread incident.

The cyberattack on Bragg comes amid a growing trend of security incidents targeting the gaming industry. The sector, with its valuable intellectual property and large user bases, has become an increasingly attractive target for malicious actors. Other major gaming companies have also faced similar threats in recent years, highlighting the constant need for vigilance and robust cybersecurity frameworks.

Bragg has reassured its customers and partners, asking for their patience as the investigation continues. The company has pledged to provide regular updates on its official website as more information becomes available. The incident serves as a stark reminder of the evolving threat landscape and the critical importance of a proactive approach to cybersecurity for businesses of all sizes.
