In a major step for digital education in Kazakhstan, VEON Ltd. (Nasdaq: VEON) and its operating company Beeline Kazakhstan, together with QazCode, have introduced “AI Tutor” – an advanced AI-supported educational assistant that will help learners of all ages develop proficiency in the Kazakh language.

As part of Beeline Kazakhstan’s flagship super-app, Janymda, which already counts 4.9 million monthly active users, this program aims to drastically improve access to education and digital inclusion in the country.

AI Tutor is based on KazLLM, a local language model launched on partnership of Beeline Kazakhstan, QazCode, the Institute of Smart Systems and Artificial Intelligence Nazarbayev University and Astana Hub which is led by the Kazakhstan Ministry of Digital Development.

Launched in December of 2024, KazLLM is an example of how Kazakhstan is increasing its capacity for developing AI models that try to close the gap when it comes to language and artificial intelligence for lesser known languages.

The AI Tutor features six fun game-based learning activities on Kazakh language skills: “Form Sentences,” “Word Ball,” “Word Error Finding,” “Story Flow,” “Word Blank,” and “Text Questions.”

These interactive modules are designed to be dynamic and personalized, so they adjust to the pace and level of the individual user. At the outset, the focus would be on the learning of the Kazakh language and there are plans to extend the AI Tutor’s functions in other subjects as well, thus expanding its educational footprint.

Kaan Terzioglu, VEON Group CEO highlights the company’s focus on harnessing augmented intelligence to connect the society and create educational prospects in its operating geographies. According to Oleksii Sharavar, CEO at QazCode, AI Tutor is not another digital product, but a vivid illustration of how progressive technology can satisfy human needs at the level of basic humanity, of education, and make knowledge more accessible to a greater number of users.

This release is based on the continued commitment of Beeline Kazakhstan to investing in social projects and developing digital competencies.

It is committed to contributing to the country’s digital ecology and ensuring that digital innovation works for the millions, enhancing inclusive access to knowledge and skill development for every citizen of Kazakhstan through projects like AI Tutor.
