Huawei today underscored significant strides in 5G-Advanced (5G-A) technology and the transformative power of scenario-based Artificial Intelligence (AI), particularly highlighted at the ongoing MWC Shanghai 2025. With China already boasting over 10 million 5G-A users across more than 300 cities, the company is demonstrating how the synergy of 5G-A and AI is poised to unlock new revenue streams and accelerate the intelligent world.
During the event, Huawei emphasized that the telecommunications industry, after decades of rapid growth, is entering a phase where new growth drivers are paramount. The company’s focus at MWC Shanghai, themed “Accelerating the Intelligent World,” revolves around empowering carriers to create value through AI. This involves not only enhancing existing services but also exploring entirely new business models.
A key area of advancement is the integration of AI agents and scenario-based AI applications with 5G-A networks. This powerful combination is enabling an evolution from traditional mobile broadband to a “Mobile AI” era. Huawei’s “GigaBand” solution, for instance, is showcased for its ability to optimize air interface resources and orchestrate networks for new AI services, delivering elastic networks with guaranteed Service Level Agreements (SLAs). Early successes, particularly in China, include collaborations with major carriers to monetize 5G-A experiences through premium upgrade programs, catering to diverse user needs like high-definition video consumption and intelligent connected vehicles.
Furthermore, Huawei is championing the development of AI-centric networks, exemplified by their new comprehensive AI Ultra-Broadband (AI UBB) solution. This solution incorporates end-to-end built-in computing power across all network layers, from home broadband to transport networks, aiming for higher network autonomy and improved AI application experiences.
The company highlighted how AI is reshaping operations, infrastructure, and services within the telecom sector. Carriers are increasingly rebranding themselves as providers of personalized, integrated AI agents, enhancing smart home companionship by coordinating devices and extending into in-vehicle services with AI agents and Vehicle-to-Everything (V2X) technologies. For businesses, AI-enhanced computing-network and model-based services are empowering various industries, driving intelligent transformation in manufacturing, transportation, and smart living.
Huawei’s message is clear: the deep convergence of 5G-A and AI is not just a technological upgrade but a fundamental shift that will redefine connectivity and open unprecedented opportunities for sustained growth in the mobile industry.
