Kyndryl, a leading provider of mission-critical enterprise technology services, today announced the launch of its ASEAN AI Innovation Lab in Singapore. This significant investment underscores Kyndryl’s commitment to accelerating the adoption of responsible and enterprise-grade Artificial Intelligence across Southeast Asia, with a keen focus on supporting AI growth in key markets like Malaysia.
The new lab, a regional hub for innovation, will house approximately 50 AI specialists, including data scientists, data engineers, and AI developers. Their collective expertise will be instrumental in advising customers across the ASEAN region on embracing AI capabilities, integrating various technologies, and implementing robust software and platform engineering solutions through Kyndryl Consult.
A core offering of the lab will be a co-creation environment via Kyndryl Vital, designed to help organizations tackle complex, real-world business challenges using design-led thinking and live demonstrations of responsible AI technologies. This hands-on approach aims to bridge the gap between AI investment and workforce preparedness, a challenge highlighted in Kyndryl’s recent People Readiness Report 2025, which revealed that while 95% of businesses have invested in AI, 71% of leaders feel their workforces are not adequately equipped to leverage it effectively.
The Singapore lab is a collaborative effort, partnering with Google Cloud and Digital Industry Singapore (DISG). As part of DISG’s Enterprise Compute Initiative, specifically the AI Cloud Takeoff program, Kyndryl will support Singapore-based companies in their AI transformation journeys. Google Cloud will provide essential tools such as Vertex AI, BigQuery, Agent Development Kit, and Google Agentspace to foster rapid AI development and deployment.
Beyond Singapore, the ASEAN AI Innovation Lab is poised to extend its impact across the region, including Malaysia, Indonesia, Thailand, Vietnam, and the Philippines. Kyndryl’s deep experience in designing and delivering complex systems at scale positions it uniquely to help businesses operationalize AI through proven infrastructure and cloud-native architectures.
The initiative also aims to establish robust governance, privacy, and security frameworks, ensuring compliance with regulatory mandates while promoting energy-efficient and cost-effective AI solutions to reduce environmental footprints and computing costs. This strategic launch is set to significantly contribute to the burgeoning AI landscape of Southeast Asia.
