Berlin, Germany: The German Insurance Association (GDV) today announced it has rolled out a comprehensive new cyber risk initiative designed to enhance the cyber resilience of companies and organizations throughout Germany. This is a critical time for this to occur, as our nation’s cyber threat landscape is getting more complex and more aggressive.”

The programme has several core pillars designed to strengthen prevention, detection and response capacity. One main pillar is the creation of a national cyber incident response plan to enable quick information sharing between companies and the authorities. The approach is hoped to improve early warning and coordinated responses to cyberattacks.

In addition, The GDV will promote an industry standard for Cyber security, in line with sector-specific requirements of the German economy. These standards will include policies like data privacy, network security, employee instruction, and incident response. “The Association will collaborate with academic institutions for the purpose of educating the youth on cyber security and rolling out specific training programmes to address the shortage of skilled technicians in cyber security of the country.

“Cyber security is no longer just an IT problem but a basic business risk that can only be addressed together”, [Insert Name and Title of GDV Spokesperson – unless you have an official spokesperson, use a general title like a GDV representative] said. “Our new initiative signals a quantum leap to strengthen Germany’s digital defenses and make the cyber space more secure for all.

Companies and organizations will receive ongoing updates and resources presented through workshops, online portals and support services. This action reflects the commitment of the German insurance industry to help protect the digital infrastructure of the country and to underpin its economic stability in the event of a constantly changing cyber threat environment.

New Cyber Risk Program Highlights include:

National Cyber Incident Reporting System: To share threat intelligence in real time.

Industry-specific Cybersecurity Guidelines: Specific to various categories of business.

Support for proactive risk assessment: The use of new security technologies.

Collaboration with Stakeholders: The government, industry and experts.

This wide ranging programme exemplifies a proactive and united front against growing cyber threats for German in 2025 and beyond.
