LevelBlue Acquires Trustwave to Become World’s Largest Managed Security Services Provider
Share on FacebookShare on Twitter

LevelBlue, a global leader in cloud-based and AI-driven managed security services, announced today the completion of its acquisition of Trustwave, a prominent provider of cybersecurity and managed detection and response (MDR) services. The strategic move positions LevelBlue as the world’s largest independent, pure-play Managed Security Services Provider (MSSP), with a complete portfolio and significantly expanded global footprint.

This acquisition, following LevelBlue’s earlier purchase of Aon’s Cybersecurity and Intellectual Property (IP) Litigation consulting groups, is a pivotal moment in the cybersecurity industry. It signals a move toward consolidation and the creation of full-stack, integrated security platforms. The newly combined entity brings together decades of expertise in MSS, MDR, incident response, and threat intelligence.

Robert McCullen, Chairman and CEO of LevelBlue, emphasized the transformative nature of the merger. “We’re redefining what it means to be a managed security provider,” he said. “By uniting world-class human expertise with AI-powered, platform-led services, we can offer clients faster detection, smarter response, and long-lasting resilience against evolving threats.”

The integration leverages key strengths from both companies. LevelBlue’s extensive experience in strategic risk management and threat intelligence will be combined with Trustwave’s market-top Fusion Security Operations Platform, its offensive security capabilities, and the elite threat intelligence from its SpiderLabs team. The new intelligence ecosystem will merge LevelBlue’s Open Threat Exchange (OTX) with Trustwave’s proprietary detection logic and research capabilities, enhancing threat detection and response on a single, cloud-based platform.

The acquisition also significantly bolsters LevelBlue’s presence in the U.S. government market. Trustwave’s recent achievements of full FedRAMP and StateRAMP authorizations position the combined company to meet the Department of Defense’s stringent “US eyes only” requirements for the Defense Industrial Base and Cybersecurity Maturity Model Certification (CMMC). This opens up new opportunities for LevelBlue to serve federal, state, and local government agencies with mission-critical cybersecurity services.

The unified company will offer a complete suite of services including managed security, offensive security, strategic advisory, incident response, and security software, aiming to simplify operations for clients and provide cohesive protection across cloud, on-premise, and hybrid environments. While financial terms of the deal were not disclosed, industry analysts view the acquisition as a major step toward addressing the growing demand for more integrated and adaptive cybersecurity solutions.
