Broadcom Makes VMware Cloud Foundation an AI Native Platform and Accelerates Developer Productivity
Share on FacebookShare on Twitter

At the annual VMware Explore 2025 conference, Broadcom Inc. announced a significant evolution of its flagship private cloud platform, VMware Cloud Foundation (VCF), transforming it into an AI-native platform. This strategic move aims to accelerate enterprise adoption of private AI and boost developer productivity by embedding essential AI services directly into the core platform.

Broadcom is making VMware Private AI Services a standard component of VCF 9.0. Previously a separate offering, this integration means that customers will now get a unified platform for both their AI and non-AI workloads, which helps to simplify infrastructure management and reduce costs. The new services include a GPU Monitoring tool, an AI Model Store for managing and deploying models, and a Model Runtime that allows flexible deployment across different hardware, including GPUs from both NVIDIA and AMD. This multi-accelerator support provides businesses with greater choice and flexibility without forcing them to re-architect their AI applications.

In a move to further enhance developer efficiency, Broadcom is also introducing several key features. The new vSAN S3 Object Store will provide native object storage support within VMware’s hyper-converged infrastructure, allowing developers multi-tenant, self-service access to unstructured data. This will streamline data management and empower IT teams with greater visibility and control. Additionally, an expanded partnership with Canonical will integrate enterprise-grade Ubuntu and “chiseled” containers into VCF. These lighter-weight containers speed up development cycles, improve security, and simplify the deployment of AI workloads, especially in environments with strict security requirements.

To simplify platform operations, Broadcom is previewing VCF Intelligent Assist, an AI-driven support assistant. This tool is designed to help IT teams diagnose and resolve issues faster by providing quick access to Broadcom’s knowledge base, ultimately reducing system downtime. By making the VCF platform inherently AI-ready and accelerating developer workflows, Broadcom is positioning itself as a leader in the private cloud market and a compelling alternative to public cloud providers for organizations looking to leverage AI on their own terms.
