Lambda, a top provider of AI cloud services, has announced a major partnership with Supermicro, a global leader in high-performance server technology. The collaboration focuses on deploying large-scale AI “factories” using Supermicro’s GPU-optimized servers, which are powered by NVIDIA’s new Blackwell-based systems. This strategic move aims to meet the escalating demand for high-performance computing required for training and deploying massive AI models.

The partnership leverages the latest in AI hardware, including NVIDIA’s HGX B200 and H200 systems, as well as the advanced GB200 and GB300 NVL72 racks. These powerful components are designed to handle demanding AI workloads, such as those used by top research labs, enterprises, and hyperscalers. A key aspect of this deployment is Supermicro’s advanced liquid-cooling technology, which not only enhances performance by keeping the powerful GPUs at optimal temperatures but also significantly reduces power and cooling costs, contributing to greater energy efficiency and sustainability.

Ken Patchett, VP of Data Center Infrastructure at Lambda, stated that the company’s mission is to “accelerate the path to Superintelligence” by building “gigawatt-scale AI factories.” He noted that Supermicro’s extensive server portfolio is a valuable asset in their quest to create “infinite-scale compute.” This rapid deployment architecture allows Lambda to bring large-scale AI infrastructure online in record time, addressing the urgent needs of their customers.

The initial deployment is located at the Cologix COL4 Scalelogix data center in Columbus, Ohio, providing the Midwest region with access to enterprise-grade AI compute solutions. This is particularly beneficial for key industries in the region, including healthcare, finance, manufacturing, retail, and logistics, as it offers a fast and efficient path to production-ready AI. The collaboration between Supermicro, Lambda, and Cologix is designed to create a digital backbone for AI development, offering low-latency access and the scalability needed for companies to remain competitive.

The partnership solidifies Supermicro’s position in the highly competitive AI infrastructure market, showcasing its technical capabilities in supporting next-generation AI workloads. While financial terms were not disclosed, deployments of this magnitude represent a significant revenue opportunity and strengthen Supermicro’s standing against rivals like Dell and HPE. This move highlights the growing trend of specialized hardware and infrastructure solutions tailored specifically for the unique demands of AI.
